Report: Jaguars bringing QB back from UFL

The Jaguars are bringing quarterback E.J. Perry back following his summer season in the UFL, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Perry’s reportedly imminent signing follows Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson ruling quarterback C.J. Beathard out of Jacksonville’s Friday preseason finale due to a groin injury on Monday.

Perry spent the 2024 developmental league campaign with the Michigan Panthers, alongside recently-added Jaguars edge rusher and reigning UFL Defensive Player of the Year Breeland Speaks.

From Andover, Mass., Perry began his NFL career signing with Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent and spent his rookie 2022 season on the Jaguars’ practice squad.

He returned to Jacksonville’s practice squad last December while starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence was in concussion protocol and remained there through the campaign’s conclusion.

Perry has also spent offseason and preseason time with Houston.

Perry has yet to throw a pass or appear in a game in the NFL, but has completed 67-of-112 attempts for 785 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions with Michigan in the UFL and USFL between 2023-24.

Over five years in college, two seasons with Boston College and three with Brown, Perry completed 63.5% of his 900 passes for 6,247 yards with 47 touchdowns and 27 interceptions, adding 16 scores on the ground.
