Report: Jags set for a second interview with Doug Pederson

The Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching search has reached a point where it’s simply hard to gauge what will happen next. The last few days have especially been puzzling as the team just developed interest in Los Angeles Rams coordinator Kevin O’Connell (who they can’t speak with until next month) and former Las Vegas Raiders assistant Rich Bisaccia.

Now, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the Jags are circling around to the coach they had their first interview with back in December. That coach is Doug Pederson, who formerly coached the Philadelphia Eagles.

Peterson is a coach who brings 12 years of experience to the table and started his NFL career under Andy Reid and the Eagles back in 2009 as a quality controls coach. In 2011, he was promoted to a quarterbacks coach role and held it until 2012.

After his stint with the Eagles, he followed Reid to his present destination with the Kansas City Chiefs where he was the offensive coordinator from 2013-15. That led to him getting the nod to return to Philly, but as their head coach from 2016-20. Throughout his stretch as the Eagles’ coach, Pederson went 42-37 and was 4-2 in the postseason, including a Super Bowl LII victory.

Pederson is one of the options many fans were high on due to his background in teaching the quarterback position, so his potential hiring is one that could bode well for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He aided Carson Wentz to a great deal of success early in his career and could certainly do the same for Lawrence, who many viewed as a generational talent coming out of the draft.
