The Charlotte Hornets finally have their man — again.
First reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hornets are hiring Steve Clifford for his second stint as the franchise’s head coach.
ESPN Sources: Steve Clifford has agreed to a deal to return as the Charlotte Hornets’ coach. Clifford, one of league’s most respected coaches among his peers, led Hornets to two playoff trips in a five-year run that ended in 2018.

Once Kenny Atkinson opted to return to the Warriors, Clifford emerged as a serious candidate early this week alongside Mike D’Antoni, who was an initial finalist for the job.
Clifford coached the Hornets from 2013-18, leading them to two playoff appearances. Clifford spent last season as a coaching consultant for Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash following his three-year stint coaching the Orlando Magic.
