The New York Giants haven’t made a secret of looking at top quarterback prospects, and this week is no different.
Head coach Brian Daboll attended the University of Washington pro day to see Michael Penix. The Giants also had a presence at the University of North Carolina, but the perception is that Penix has been prioritized over UNC QB Drake Maye.
True to that notion, the Giants will reportedly hold a workout and visit with Maye by the end of the week.
The #Giants have a presence here at UNC today but Brian Daboll went to UW to see Michael Penix. Sources say the team will work out and meet with Drake Maye in the coming days. https://t.co/WAUTEiKxZ8

At his Pro Day, Penix showed off and showed out with a sub-4.6-second 40-yard dash, and while Maye didn’t see Daboll at UNC, he will get his chance.
That’s not what this is. They’re going to have a private workout with Maye and he’s already visited the Giants’ facility. https://t.co/HZfweKmXRU

The perception may have been prioritization, but sometimes it’s just scheduling.
The Giants are certainly doing their due diligence with the 2024 quarterbacks class, and yet it’s still uncertain if they will even draft a quarterback with the sixth pick. Although, with this amount of resources spent on the top QB prospects, it’s hard to imagine they go a different route.
It is said that Daniel Jones is the guy, and even if they draft a QB the intention is probably to start Jones. But no matter what they say publicly, every position is up for grabs at any time should the right circumstances arise. It’s always good to have a backup.
