Report: Giants looking to trade WR Kadarius Toney

The New York Giants are reportedly looking to trade 2021 first-round pick wide receiver Kadarius Toney, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.

According to the report from Leonard, the Giants have been calling around the league to see what kind of deal they can get in return for the former No. 20 overall pick.

Despite new general manager Joe Schoen stating earlier this offseason that Toney was essentially untouchable for inquiring teams, it appears the electric wideout is available.

Leonard reported that there are a myriad of factors leading to this point, including some troubles during the Florida product’s rookie season.

“There was some internal momentum for bailing on Toney during his tumultuous rookie season a year ago. His commitment came into question behind the scenes during his rookie year due to lack of playbook study, poor meeting behavior and frequent injuries.”

The 23-year-old didn’t show up to the voluntary offseason workouts as the Giants began preparing for the 2022 season under a new era in Scheon and head coach Brian Daboll.

We’ll see what happens with this ordeal, but there’s a realistic world where Toney spends just one season with Big Blue after being their first-round pick.
