Report: Falcons interview Bill Belichick for head coaching job

The Atlanta Falcons were one of the first teams that emerged with serious interest in former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, and per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, they acted on that interest by interviewing the future Hall of Fame coach.

Belichick officially parted ways with the Patriots last week, putting an end to a 24-year run. New England moved quickly in hiring Jerod Mayo, Belichick’s former pupil, as their head coach.

The Falcons fired Arthur Smith after three consecutive losing seasons under his supervision. For a team like Atlanta, who hasn’t had a winning season since 2017, the thought of hiring a six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach like Belichick is a no-brainer.

Other teams could get in the mix for Belichick’s services. There are multiple potential landing spots for the former Patriots head coach.

One has to think he’d consider the option that gives him the best shot at winning football games and possibly even competing for another Super Bowl.
