The University of Texas System board of regents will approve contract extensions for eight Longhorns football coordinators and assistants this week, according to the Houston Chronicle. The board is scheduled to meet on Wednesday and Thursday.
One-year contract extensions will be given to co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Jeff Choate, running backs coach Tashard Choice, safeties coach Blake Gideon, defensive passing game coordinator and secondary coach Terry Joseph, defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee and strength coach and director of football performance Torre Becton.
Meanwhile, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Kyle Flood will receive a two-year contract extension. The Longhorns finished 8–5 in 2022 under head coach Steve Sarkisian. This was Sarkisian’s second year at the helm for Texas. He finished 2021 with a 5–7 mark.
Hopefully for Longhorns fans, the upward trend continues next season. Texas hasn’t won 10 games in a season since 2018, when the Longhorns capped the year with a Sugar Bowl victory over Georgia.
