The Miami Dolphins have filled most of their spots on Mike McDaniel’s coaching staff, and that includes defensive coordinator Josh Boyer being retained in his position after Brian Flores’ departure.
While some were glad to see some continuity on the side of the ball that was successful for a good part of the season, there are some on the team who aren’t thrilled with the decision, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Omar Kelly.
“I can tell you this as a fact,” Kelly said on an episode of his YouTube show “X’s & Omar.” “Players on defense are not very pleased with Josh Boyer being named defensive coordinator. We will see what happens here because they know that Boyer’s scheme, concepts, approach did not lead to success last year.”
Kelly has stated both this episode and in the past that when Miami’s defense stepped up during the second half of the season, it was Flores who was actually calling the plays.
McDaniels has gotten a lot of credit from the fanbase about the staff he’s surrounding himself with, but if players are unhappy this could be a problem.
