Report: Derek Carr Won’t Accept Saints Trade; QB to be Released

Derek Carr has informed the Raiders he will not accept a trade to any team and Las Vegas is expected to release him, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Carr has reportedly been in contact with the Saints this past week regarding a possible trade, but it looks like he has no intention of being dealt.

New Orleans had the framework in place for a trade, but Carr’s contract ended up being a problem, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The signal-caller will be owed a guaranteed $40.4 million as of Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Thanks to his no-trade clause in his current deal, a trade was completely up to him so he can now effectively force his own release.

Carr made it clear he does not want to stay in Las Vegas next season, as he’s already penned a goodbye message to Raiders fans after he was benched to close the year.

He threw for 3,522 yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his 15 games this past season.
