Report: Calais Campbell visits Jaguars about possible reunion

Free agent defensive lineman Calais Campbell visited the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, according to a report from Demetrius Harvey of the Florida Times-Union.

Campbell, 36, spent three seasons with the Jaguars from 2017 to 2019, but made a significant impact in his relatively short time in Duval. He earned Pro Bowl honors in all three of his seasons in Jacksonville, and was the runner-up for AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.

Over his three seasons in Jacksonville, the massive 6’8, 300-pound defensive end racked up 31.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two touchdowns. His influence went beyond the stat sheet, though, as the 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year also brought leadership and captaincy to the Jaguars defense.

Campbell was traded by the Jaguars after the 2019 season to clear cap space as the team began a rebuild of its roster. He then spent three years with the Baltimore Ravens, tallying 11 sacks during his time with the team.

At this point in his career, Campbell may need a more limited role and would battle Folorunso Fatukasi for a starting spot if he signs with the Jaguars.

Campbell played each of the last three seasons on one-year deals with the Ravens. He most recently played the 2022 season on a $12.5 million contract.
