Report: Bulls’ making Alex Caruso ‘almaost untouchable’ in trade talks

As NBA trade season gets further underway, the Chicago Bulls are widely expected to be one of the more active teams around the league. Headlined by a potential Zach LaVine blockbuster deal, the Bulls could look to restructure their roster around guys like Coby White and Patrick Williams, who have helped them turn their season around after a rocky start.

But while a LaVine trade will be the star of the show in terms of Bulls trades, they also have some other guys who could be on the block. Torrey Craig, who is still injured, and Jevon Carter are the most obvious, but Alex Caruso undoubtedly has interested suitors around the league, too.

However, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls have maintained that Caruso is “almost untouchable” in trade talks.

“The most sought-after commodity on the Bulls’ roster is still Alex Caruso,” Cowley wrote. “The Sun-Times has reported throughout the season that Caruso was deemed almost untouchable, and a source indicated that hasn’t changed.”

Caruso was named to the All-Defensive First Team last season, and with his three-point improvement this year, he’s one of the best 3-and-D guards in the association.

So far this season, Caruso is averaging 9.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists while shooting 49.4% from the field and 41.8% from behind the three-point line.

It makes sense why the Bulls want to keep him around, as they are fully in the race for a spot in the Play-In Tournament, but at the same time, this could be their best chance to capitalize on his value as a trade chip.
