Report: Bucs’ OC Liam Coen interview scheduled for Jaguars head coach opening

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator Liam Coen will be interviewing with the Jacksonville Jaguars for their head coaching opening on Wednesday, according to Peter Schrager.

The 2024 season was Coen’s first as the Bucs’ offensive play-caller with Tampa Bay finding a lot of success.

Along with making the playoffs, the Bucs’ offense would finish the regular season ranked fourth in points per game and they were the only offense in football to finish top five in passing yards per game and rushing yards per game in 2024.

In an interview with the Bucs’ team site, some elements of Coen’s offense include a heavy usage of motion and shifts, giving the quarterback autonomy to make decisions with multiple play-calls, “different types” of runs, and more 11 personnel, among other things.

Before landing in Tampa, Coen was the Kentucky offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2023–a title he also held in 2021.

In 2022, he was the LA Rams offensive coordinator under Sean McVay. He’s also spent time as the Rams assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant wide receivers coach as well.

In addition to Coen, the Jaguars have also interviewed Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, Robert Saleh, Patrick Graham, Steve Spanuolo, Brian Flores, and they will interview Kellen Moore on Friday.
