Report: Bucks Emerge As Frontrunners to Sign Goran Dragić

The Bucks have reportedly emerged as the favorite to land free agent guard Goran Dragić, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The news concerning Dragić comes three days after the Bulls decided to waive the 36-year-old guard. The 2018 NBA All-Star will reportedly meet with the Bucks on Friday, per Wojnarowski.

Milwaukee, who attempted to sign Dragić before he signed with the Nets last year, will get another chance to land the veteran guard. With the Bulls this season, Dragić averaged 6.1 points and 2.7 assists in nearly 15 minutes per game while shooting 43% from the floor and 35% from three-point range.

Prior to coming to the United States, Dragić played in Spain and Slovenia and was later selected in the second round of the 2008 NBA draft by the Suns. He was traded to the Rockets in ’11 but then returned to Phoenix as a promising free agent in ’12.

Dragić had a solid impact with the Suns in his second stint (2012 to ’15), where he averaged 16.9 points per game while also averaging his highest points total (20.3) in the ’13–14 campaign. He was traded to the Heat in ’15, where he spent seven seasons and continued to flourish.

In Miami, Dragić averaged more than 20 points per game during the ’16–17 season while earning his lone All-Star honors in the ’17–18 campaign when he averaged 17.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Since his time with the Heat, Dragić has moved around the league, playing for the Raptors and the Nets before signing with Chicago in August.
