Indianapolis Colts special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone is reportedly scheduled to interview with the Cleveland Browns for their vacancy in the same role Wednesday, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
After firing special teams coordinator Mike Priefer on Tuesday morning, it was reported that the Browns were eyeing Ventrone, having requested an interview for the vacancy.

Because it’s a lateral move in terms of job title, the Colts had the option to keep Ventrone from taking the interview, essentially blocking any team from poaching him.
However, the relationship between Ventrone and general manager Chris Ballard is strong so it was likely that they were going to allow the interview to happen.
Stephen Holder of The Athletic also reported that the expectation is that Ventrone will likely take the job. However, it hasn’t been confirmed yet, and the interview will certainly play a role in that endeavor.
Multiple people have already told me this morning that Bubba Ventrone is gone and will take the job in Cleveland. That’s not a confirmation but sounding more like this will happen. https://t.co/EQvbUjoggy

Ventrone has meant a great deal to the locker room and the special teams unit during his five seasons with the team. They’ve ranked inside the top 10 in each of the last three seasons, and many considered Ventrone as the best interim candidate following the firing of Frank Reich.
The latter obviously didn’t come to fruition as the Colts hired Jeff Saturday, but the team did interview Ventrone in January to kick off their head coach search.
We’ll see what happens over the next day or two, but Ventrone could be returning to the team that he played four seasons with while serving as the special teams captain in two of those campaigns.
