Report: Bryce Young Will Not Throw at NFL Combine

With the NFL scouting combine set to begin Thursday, it appears that one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft won’t be throwing there. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Bryce Young won’t throw at the combine and instead will wait until Alabama’s pro day to showcase his arm.

Young has fully recovered from an AC joint injury he suffered this past season, but he will skip the combine’s skill events and focus only on interviews in Indianapolis. Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Florida’s Anthony Richardson both plan to throw at the combine, though. Quarterbacks are scheduled to throw on Saturday.

Young is widely viewed as the top quarterback in this year’s draft, but his future remains unknown with the Bears’ having the No. 1 pick. Chicago already has a franchise quarterback in Justin Fields, and it’s unknown whether the team would consider drafting Young to replace Fields.

According to a Monday report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chicago has been approached by several teams to trade the pick, and the team is “leaning toward” moving the pick.
