With Super Bowl LVII safely in the rearview mirror, the football world is already looking to 2023.
The first matchup of next season is set: The Browns will meet the Jets in the Hall of Fame Game on Aug. 3 in Canton, Ohio.
The game, held annually Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, traditionally coincides with Hall of Fame induction weekend, and teams associated with the inductees are selected to participate.
Three 2023 Hall of Famers have prominent ties to Cleveland and New York: Defensive lineman Joe Klecko spent 11 of his 12 seasons with the Jets, defensive back Darrelle Revis played eight years in New York, and tackle Joe Thomas played his entire career for the Browns.
This is Cleveland’s sixth appearance in the Hall of Fame Game and its first since re-entering the league in 1999. The Jets have played in the game just twice, last appearing in Canton in 1992.
New York defeated the Browns 31–30 in September, and both teams finished last season at 7–10.
