Report: Broncos’ KJ Hamler Suffers Injury During Workout

Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler recently underwent surgery after suffering a partially torn pectoral muscle while training away from the team, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. It’s unclear at this time how the injury occurred.

The recovery timeline is estimated to be between four to six months. If he were to fully recover in four months, that would put his return in July—in time for training camp. A six-month rehabilitation would push his recovery into the regular season.

Hamler, 23, is entering his fourth season out of Penn State and has had difficulty staying healthy, having only played in 10 total games the past two years. Hamler tore his ACL in Week 3 of the 2021 season and appeared in only seven games last year in large part because of a hamstring injury.

In 23 career games for Denver, he has tallied 42 catches for 620 yards and three touchdowns.
