Report: Broncos Hiring Davis Webb As Quarterbacks Coach

The Broncos are reportedly hiring Davis Webb as their next quarterbacks coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Webb spent the 2022 NFL season as the backup signal caller to Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. The 28-year-old was elevated from the team’s practice squad ahead of New York’s regular-season finale when he threw for 168 yards on 23-of-40 passes and one touchdown in a 22–16 loss.

Webb’s practice squad contract expired on Jan. 21. Now, he will hold the responsibility of coaching nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson in his first coaching job.

At the conclusion of the Giants’ season, Webb reportedly expressed his interest in coaching after previously garnering interest from the Bills to become their quarterbacks coach. The news of Webb’s hiring on Thursday comes after Denver reportedly hired Vance Joseph as its defensive coordinator, according to Good Morning Football’s Peter Schrager.

Webb replaces former Broncos quarterbacks coach Klint Kubiak, who served under former head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Last season, under Kubiak, the Broncos ranked No. 22 in the league in net yards gained per pass attempt. Meanwhile, Wilson posted one of the worst statistical years in his NFL career, throwing for 3,524 yards, 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
