Report: Boston Celtics ‘not currently looking to trade (Malcolm) Brogdon’

If the Boston Celtics do end up trading away the NBA’s 2023 Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon this offseason, it won’t be because they were looking to do so, according to new reporting from the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach. Per the Globe Reporter, “the Celtics are not currently looking to trade Brogdon, and that they are comfortable bringing the reigning Sixth Man of the Year back in that role next season.”

If the Celtics are not actively shopping the Virginia alum, this tells us a bit about how they see Brogdon’s future in Boston. Namely that he will back up Derrick White as the team’s lead floor general, and also that they believe he will be up for the task in terms of health.

According to Himmelsbach, the injury to his arm that derailed a trade to the Los Angeles Clippers “could still require surgery, but Brogdon is expected to be ready for the start of the season regardless”.
