Report: Bob Myers officially joins ESPN

When Bob Myers resigned from his general manager role with the Golden State Warriors, he made clear he didn’t know what was next. During his 12-year tenure with the Warriors franchise, Myers helped preside over a stretch of dominance that will go down in the history of the NBA.

Since stepping away from the Warriors, Myers has been fielding offers — in basketball and elsewhere. However, it appears ESPN won the race for his signature. The company announced he will join the network as both a studio analyst and a game analyst.

“Bob Myers, two-time NBA Executive of the Year who led the Golden State Warriors to four NBA Championships, has joined ESPN to serve as both a studio analyst and game analyst,” ESPN’s press release read.

“Myers will appear on the ABC editions of NBA Countdown, including for the NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC and NBA Sunday Showcase on ABC series during the regular season and throughout the NBA Playoffs. He will also call games during the season. Myers joins Andrews, Smith, Wilbon and Wojnarowski to round out the new lead NBA Countdown team.”

Myers isn’t the only big name ESPN is adding ahead of the new season. Doc Rivers, a championship-winning coach with the Boston Celtics, will also join game coverage. However, Myers’ addition is bound to be a big hit, with the former GM seen as one of the best basketball minds of his generation.

Since stepping away from the Warriors, Myers’ replacement, Mike Dunleavy Jr., has wasted no time in revamping Golden State’s roster and hopes to continue Myers’ work in keeping the franchise at the forefront of the NBA for years to come.
