Report: Bengals QB Joe Burrow Aims to Play in ‘MNF’ vs. Rams Despite Calf Injury

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who is nursing a right calf injury, is feeling better and will try to start against the Rams on Monday Night Football, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer

Dianna Russini of The Athletic first reported there was optimism that Burrow would start Monday night. He’s apparently trending in the right direction but still pleading with the coaching staff and trainers to play. It’s still uncertain whether he’ll be allowed to give it a go.

Burrow initially injured his right calf during training camp and re-aggravated it in the team’s 27–24 loss to the Ravens in Week 2. Jake Browning, who has only attempted one pass in his NFL career, is the only other QB on the Bengals’ roster.

The Bengals have won the AFC North two years in a row, but they’ve started this season a disappointing 0–2 and have looked nothing short of disappointing. Even with Burrow, it won’t be an easy task to beat Los Angeles (1–1). Only time will tell if Burrow will be able to give it a go by the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN
