The Bears hired general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Matt Eberflus over the last three days, but the work is only just beginning for Poles and Eberflus.
Now that Poles has his head coach in place, he has to assemble a front office staff. And it sounds like he’s started to do just that.
According to NFL insider Adam Caplan and Eagles reporter Geoff Mosher, Poles is expected to target Eagles director of player personnel Ian Cunningham for a “high-ranking” front office job.
NFL SOURCES tell @caplannfl and @GeoffMosherNFL: New #Bears GM Ryan Poles expected to target #Eagles dir. of player personnel Ian Cunningham for high-ranking front office job in Chicago.
Cunningham, who’s been with Eagles for five years, and Poles are said to be close.

Cunningham has 13 years of NFL experience, getting his start as a player personnel assistant with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008. He also served as an area scout for the Ravens before getting an opportunity as director of college scouting with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017. Cunningham worked his way up to assistant director of players personnel and, most recently as this year, another promotion to director of player personnel.
