The Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards agreed on a five-year designated rookie maximum deal on Monday, which could be worth around $260 million, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported. His agents from WME Bill Duffy and Joe Branch reported the news first.
The 2020 No. 1 pick will earn $13.5 million in the upcoming season for his last year on his rookie deal. His new maximum deal will begin in the 2024–25 season.
“I’m humbled, appreciative and excited to remain in Minnesota as a part of this incredible Timberwolves organization,” Edwards said, via Wojnarowski. “It’s amazing to see where hard work can take you.”
The 21-year-old will be entering his fourth season with the Timberwolves. Edwards wrapped up the 2022-23 season with averages of 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from three-point range. These numbers came in as career-bests across the board for the 21-year-old.
