Sean McVay must really love coaching because Amazon was prepared to back up the Brink’s truck with its offer to the Rams head coach.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, McVay and Amazon were going to meet next week before McVay opted to return to the Rams for next season. Sources told Marchand that Amazon may have offered McVay as much as $100 million for five years to join its broadcasting team on Thursday Night Football.
That works out to $20 million per year, which is nearly triple the reported $8.5 million salary McVay currently has with the Rams.
McVay says no to TV. He and Amazon were going to meet next week, and Amazon may have gone as high as five years and $100M, according to sources. Rams, obviously, have stepped up with a raise from his reported $8.5M. … On to the next one …. https://t.co/lcRtFjtWcr

An extension is likely coming for McVay in short order after he led the Rams to two Super Bowls in four years, winning his second appearance over the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
In order for the Rams to keep McVay, they likely had to open the checkbook for their coach to keep him from bolting to broadcasting. It probably won’t be long before we learn that McVay has signed an extension – and a lucrative one, at that.
