Repeat Lanarkshire offender caught with over 2000 child abuse images on his phone

A repeat offender was caught with more than 2000 child abuse images on his phone.

Ewan Coutts, 32, admitted a charge relating to indecent material when he appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.

The court heard police went to his home in Thorndean Avenue, Bellshill, in October last year after receiving intelligence.

They arrived at 7.30am and Coutts answered the door. He was alone in the house.

A mobile phone was found in his bedroom and it contained 2058 indecent images featuring children thought to be aged between five and 16.

Coutts has already served a prison sentence for a similar offence and is currently being held in prison in relation to the latest case.

Sheriff Thomas Millar deferred sentence until March 24 for background reports and a risk assessment.

The Sheriff will also consider a prosecution request for a sexual offences prevention order that would place restrictions on Coutts when he is released.

Coutts was again remanded in custody.
