Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., has announced plans for upcoming hearings for her new subcommittee panel, which aligns with Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Following the subcommittee's initial public event, Greene revealed that the next two hearings will focus on examining the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and media outlets NPR and PBS.
Elon Musk, who spearheaded President Donald Trump's DOGE advisory team, has also targeted NPR and USAID in the past. Greene emphasized the importance of providing transparency to the American people regarding various government issues and programs.
While there were speculations about Elon Musk potentially appearing before the committee, Greene indicated that such plans were not currently in place. She expressed concerns that Democrats might use Musk's presence to criticize and harass him, emphasizing the need for Musk to concentrate on addressing waste, fraud, and abuse within federal government agencies.
The committee is set to release a report in the coming days based on its findings from the initial hearing, which focused on government spending in relation to the national debt. Greene highlighted that the report would outline the identified issues and propose solutions for implementation in Congress.

During the hearing, Democratic attempts to shift the focus onto Elon Musk faced criticism from Republican lawmakers present. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., condemned the ad hominem attacks on Musk, emphasizing the need to address government spending and waste effectively.
Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, dismissed concerns that Democrats' focus on Musk would resonate with the American people, stating that voters seek significant changes in government operations for their benefit.
The DOGE subcommittee, operating under the House Oversight Committee, marks Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's first committee leadership role.
