Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., President Donald Trump's nominee for ambassador to the United Nations, has progressed to a full floor vote in the Senate for confirmation. Stefanik, former chair of the House Republican Conference, recently underwent a confirmation hearing where she highlighted her questioning of college leaders regarding antisemitism on campuses following Hamas' attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted to advance Stefanik's nomination to a full floor vote after a recent vote. Notably, Stefanik garnered bipartisan support from committee members. Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., expressed her appreciation for some of Stefanik's responses and announced her intention to vote in favor of the nomination.

Shaheen, while acknowledging differences in positions, commended Stefanik's commitment to supporting the U.N.'s work and enhancing its operations. On the other hand, Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware stated his decision to vote against Stefanik as a form of protest against President Trump's recent freeze on federal funding.
