Rep. Cory Mills, a Republican from Florida, has refuted any allegations of misconduct following an alleged assault incident in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. The Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to a call reporting an assault at Mills' residence on the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue, Southwest, around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
The MPD has confirmed that an active criminal investigation is underway but has not disclosed further details regarding the incident. Mills, a former Army combat veteran and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Intelligence, has maintained his innocence through a spokesperson.

In a statement released to the media, Mills' spokesperson stated, 'This week, law enforcement was asked to address a private matter at Congressman Mills' residence. Congressman Mills vehemently denies any wrongdoing and is confident that any investigation will swiftly resolve this matter.'
The incident has sparked public interest and concern, given Mills' prominent position in Congress. As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits further updates on the situation and any developments that may arise.
