Missouri Representative Emanuel Cleaver, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, recently shared his renewed confidence in President Joe Biden. Cleaver had previously expressed concerns about Biden's debate performance but now stands firmly behind the President.
In a statement, Cleaver emphasized that President Biden is not to be underestimated, stating, 'President Biden is not ready to be rolled into an old folks' home.' He reaffirmed his support for Biden, highlighting that the President remains the same individual Cleaver campaigned for in 2020.
Cleaver urged fellow Democrats to focus on unity and positivity, stating, 'Democrats will not be able to attract others to the light if we keep hanging out in the darkness of discontent and doubt.'
The shift in Cleaver's stance towards Biden came after spending more time with the President and engaging in conversations about Biden's presidential record. Cleaver emphasized that Biden has already secured the nomination and that the upcoming race is his to 'win or lose.'
Looking ahead, Cleaver expressed optimism about Biden's campaign strategy, suggesting that it could help regain support from those who may have been deterred by previous debates. He anticipated a candid and direct meeting with House Democrats, acknowledging potential tensions but expressing confidence in the members' continued support for Biden.
Cleaver reassured that despite any disagreements, there would be no physical altercations among members, emphasizing the collective belief that President Biden remains a strong leader.
