The beautiful Newport five-bed home you can rent for less than small Bristol flat

Bristol rent prices have reached unaffordable levels for some, which means people are now looking for cheaper options - and Newport is fast-becoming renter's top choice. When you compare how much more you can get for your money it's easy to see why.

A five-bed house with a garage and large garden will set you back just £2,500 per month, whereas here in Bristol some small one-bed flats go for £3.800.

Located in a beautiful village called Bassaleg, just the other side of Newport, the five-bed property is described as a spacious family home and comes with a huge garden, pool table and lots of parking, according to Rightmove. It takes just 40 minutes to drive to Bristol from that location.

Photographs of the stunning property show a large hallway that leads straight into a large open-plan kitchen diner with a separate laundry room. Further up the hallway is the massive living room that has patio doors going out into the spacious garden.

Downstairs there are a further four rooms, a downstairs bathroom, a small room by the front door (supposedly for shoes and coats) and the final two rooms makeup two of the bedrooms but could be used for different purposes.

Upstairs are the remaining three bedrooms, two smaller but still decent sizes while the master bedroom boasts ample space and even a skylight. The family bathroom is also upstairs, decorated with slightly dated fashion, the room is large and bright.

While the property doesn’t have a Bristol postcode, Newport has brilliant links to the city, and the house even has a bus stop right outside. To drive, on an average day where the roads are clear, the journey from Newport to Bristol City Centre would take around 45 minutes.

Research conducted by Alan Boswell Landlord Building Insurance experts shows Bristol residents are spending a greater amount of their wages on rent (50.63%) than anywhere else in the South West. Meanwhile, the same study showed that residents in Wales spend just 27.2% of their income on rent - a massive difference to those living in Bristol.
