Spanish restaurant Curado and staple Cardiff sandwich shop, Fresh the Baguette Bar, are joining forces for one tasty afternoon of wine and food. Being held at the Spanish restaurant and deli on Sunday, September 25 at 3pm, the family-run sarnie shop, which has been going for over 20 years, will be stepping into Curado's kitchen to bring the people of Cardiff "a wine-tasting paired with Gaz [Fresh's owner, Gareth Lawson] inspired pintxos".
Alongside four Ribera del Duero wines - which hail from the north west of Spain, Castilla y Leon - the wine pairing afternoon will also be serving pintxo-style dishes - made to be eaten with your fingers. The evening will be hosted by Curado's general manager Adam Beckey and resident "wine nerd" Jack Holtom.
Speaking off this exciting news, Adam says: "We have been planning to do events like this for a long time. We have been friends with Gaz and Sam [Halewood] for years and have always joked about doing something together.

"We were chatting in the shop a few weeks ago and finally thought it was time to pull this collaboration together. We are over the moon to be inviting Fresh in to our kitchen, it’s safe to say that the planning and tasting meetings prior to announcing this have been incredibly fun"
Announcing the news on Instagram, Curado - which is run by the team behind Ultracomida, Vermut and Penarth Road's newest tenant Spanish Wines (read more on that here) - and Fresh together posted a picture of an enticing glass of red wine and a cured meat covered baguette.
The caption which accompanied the announcement read: "This month, Curado is all about @bodegasvalduero so we couldn't think of a better way of celebrating than inviting one of our friends to do something a little bit different with us...
"On Sunday 25th of September at 3pm @freshthebaguettebar will be joining us in the kitchen for a wine-tasting paired with Gaz inspired pintxos. Four stunning Ribera del Duero wines from bodegas Valduero, presented by our very own wine nerds Adam and Jack AND food pairings from the best baguette shop in the world. What. A. Afternoon!
"If you dont know @freshthebaguettebar then you have missed out, running for 23 years this family run baguette shop founded in one of the beautiful Cardiff arcades has been pushing the baguette boundaries to new levels. From sell-out-specials and home favourites, getting these guys into our kitchen is a gastronomical privilege.
"Tickets will be a measly £30, there are only 20 tickets available so email us on enquries@curadobar.co.uk with your name, amount of tickets and contact number so we can call you to take payment."
And it seems they have tapped into something quite special as less than 24 hours after they posted the exciting announcement, tickets were sold out. But fear not, the event is running a reservation list.
