Rennes confirm permanent signing of Kyogo Furuhashi from Celtic

Kyogo Furuhashi has officially left Celtic, joining French Ligue 1 side Rennes on a permanent basis.

The striker made 186 appearances for the Parkhead side, contributing to 104 goals along the way.

He won eight major trophies in Glasgow's east end, including a treble under previous manager Ange Postecoglou.

The Japanese forward has been the centre of speculation since MLS' official website wrongly posted an article confirming he'd joined Atlanta United.

Instead of moving across the pond, Furuhashi has now completed a switch across the English channel, joining Jorge Sampaoli's team, who currently sit 14th in the French top flight.

It comes after Jota went the other way, completing an emotional return to Celtic.

The winger has signed a five-and-a-half-year deal in Glasgow's east end, linking up with Brendan Rodgers as the Scottish Premiership champions look to retain their title and complete a domestic clean sweep.
