Renfrewshire roads chaos as early morning crash sees motorist hospitalised

Traffic was brought to a standstill this morning following a two vehicle crash on the M8.

And that saw one person hospitalised following the horrific incident.

The collision happened early morning as commuters took to the roads during rush hour, with a police source confirming a car and motorcycle collided around 7.30am.

That sparked an emergency services response with one motorist taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a result of injuries sustained.

A Police Scotland source told Renfrewshire Live: “Officers were called to a report of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle near to J28 of the eastbound M8, Glasgow, at around 7.30am on Tuesday.

“One person was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, for treatment. The road was cleared by 8.20am.”

The collision resulted in lanes two and three - heading east - being blocked, with traffic on the A737 also affected.

Lane two on the M8 reopened around 8.20am, with lane three reopening at 8.34am - delays on the roads continued for some time.

One motorist told us: “Traffic on the A737 was hellish this morning, with delays of about 40 minutes.

“At first I thought it was because of the rail strike, then I heard there was an accident at Glasgow Airport. I just hope everyone is alright.”
