The Scottish Social Services Services (SSSC) have handed him a six month warning on his registration following the incident, saying his actions amounted to "verbal abuse".

The hearing decision continued: "Your actions failed to meet this standard and amounted to verbal abuse. Your actions had the potential to cause distress to a vulnerable resident with dementia and could have made them reluctant to seek support in future. Behaviour of this nature falls below the standards expected of registered social services worker. Your actions raise concerns regarding your underlying values and attitude.

"Your behaviour is serious as it is had the potential to cause emotional distress to a resident you supported. Your behaviour undermines the public trust and confidence in social services. If your behaviour was repeated service users would be placed at risk of emotional harm."
