A Renfrew dance studio is the talk of Westminster as they were congratulated by MP Gavin Newlands for becoming World champions.
Jazzle Dazzle Studios in Renfrew were invited out to Orlando, Florida to compete in the World Championship after getting recognition for their efforts, something that founder Jaclyn Bryceland said was an “amazing achievement” on its own.
Four teams from the studio competed at the 2023 Allstar World Championship in Florida at the beginning of the month, which was described as “phenomenal competition” by Jaclyn due to the setup, prestigiousness and competitiveness of all the teams involved.
And despite the coach revealing that getting to the competition to begin with left them “still crying” that they won the bid, the Renfrew dance studio managed to take it a step further and be announced as world champions after snapping up three golds and a silver award.
The dance school’s Senior and mini Jazz teams, as well as the Senior Pom each won gold for their categories, whilst Senior Lyrical snatched up silver.
Speaking about taking the achievement in and how much it means to everyone connected to the group Jaclyn said: “I don’t have the words to explain how much this means to me.
“It has not sunk in, even though I want it too. Every time somebody asks me about it when I pass them in the street I keep just smiling because it was an incredible achievement.
“I am so proud of the all the people children at the studio because they deserve it as the put the time and effort in.
“Some are training five to six times a week which is a lot, with some missing out on parties, discos etc. It isn’t easy but they love taking part as you can see with the effort they put in. They took the competition all in their stride.”
And if things couldn’t have got any better for the group, local MP Newlands, whose daughter also takes part in the dance group, submitted an early day motion at Westminster to give recognition to everyone for becoming world champions.
The MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North said that he was “proud” of everyone for what they achieved, as well as thanking the coaches for their hard work.
He said: “Earlier this week, I was delighted to stand up in the House of Commons and share the fantastic news that Renfrew’s own Jazzle Dazzle Studios are now world champions having won three Gold and one Silver award at the All Star World Championships in Orlando, Florida.
“To celebrate Jazzle Dazzle’s achievements I have, in addition, submitted an Early Day Motion at Westminster congratulating the teams’ achievements.
“I am proud to say both my daughters Emma and Eilidh attend the dance studio and were part of the seniors team.
“As someone who has watched Jazzle Dazzle, and many of the pupils themselves, grow for a number of years now, I am so proud of what they have all achieved.
“I congratulate Jackie and Michelle, and everyone else at Jazzle Dazzle, for not only creating these routines and these teams, but helping to make the girls the dancers and people they are today.
“The success in Orlando, is all the more special as I know that this was the final season of competition for some of the dancers. They’ve certainly gone out with a bang.
“The team has competed successfully in National, European, and now Global Championships over the years and I see no reason why Team JD won’t go from success to success.
