Renewed appeal for Scots mum missing without warning as family ask 'please come home'

Police in Ayrshire have issued a renewed appeal to trace a missing woman who left her family home without warning in the early hours of Friday morning.

Lisa Haining, 50, disappeared from her home in Dundonald, around three miles south-east of Irvine, some time on January 20 and was last seen in the Castle View area of the town. The mum is described as 5ft in height and of slim build, with dyed blonde hair and darker roots.

When she was last seen she was wearing black leggings, an olive-green shirt, brown jacket and white trainers. She may be driving a white Renault Twingo hatchback bearing the registration plate SJ65 JXP.

Since she disappeared, her family has mounted a large-scale social media appeal in a bid to track her movements, while police are carrying out enquiries into where she may have gone. In heartbreaking posts on Facebook, Lisa's daughter Emma said her mum had left her phone behind, making her all-but impossible to contact.

Emma wrote: "She doesn’t deserve to be alone, to be scared, to not know her family just want her home like always. I would describe my mum as the backbone the strongest person in our little family.

"Look in places you may think she may have wanted to hide. You are loved by more than just our wee family, you have the people’s hearts too and they want you home…so please come home."

Officers have learned Lisa is a regular visitor to Oban and are liaising with colleagues in the Argyll and Bute area in case they can assist. In the meantime, Inspector Paul Richmond of Ayrshire Police Division has asked members of the public who may have any information to get in touch as soon as possible.

Insp Richmond said: “Despite extensive enquiries, searches and previous appeals, we have yet to locate Lisa. We are extremely concerned for her wellbeing and safety.

"We are continuing to study CCTV from in and around the Dundonald area to gather more information on where she headed after she left the Castle View area in the early hours of Friday morning. We are also working to locate her white Renault Twingo with the registration SJ65 JXP.

“Officers have been checking areas she is known to visit and we know that she has visited the Oban area a number of times. We are liaising with our police colleagues in Oban in case she has travelled there.

“This is a very upsetting time for Lisa’s family who just want her traced and back home with them as soon as possible. If you have seen Lisa or her car since Friday morning, or you have any information that may assist, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact us."

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting the reference 0588 of 20 January 2023.
