Melbourne Renegades skipper Nic Maddinson has won the bat flip and elected to bowl in the BBL match against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG.

The Renegades (3-1) will be boosted by the addition of veterans Martin Guptill and Peter Handscomb in their Renegades debuts.

Shaun Marsh will play his first match of the season after overcoming a calf injury, while Kane Richardson returns after being rested from the Renegades' loss to the Hobart Hurricanes.

New Zealand white-ball star Guptill replaces Andre Russell after the West Indies all-rounder completed his brief stint with the Renegades.

"You lose a player that's been quite influential for four games for us, but we get a guy that's played over 300 games of T20 and straight away seems to fit in," Renegades coach David Saker said.

The Sixers (2-2) are looking to extend their hot streak at home after back-to-back wins over the Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes at the SCG kickstarted their BBL season.

Veteran spinner Stephen O'Keefe misses for the Sixers after feeling soreness in his hamstring during the victory over the Stars on Monday night.

Sydney Sixers XI: Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird, Dan Christian, Ben Dwarshuis, Moises Henriques (c), Hayden Kerr, Todd Murphy, Kurtis Patterson, Josh Philippe, Jordan Silk, James Vince.

Melbourne Renegades XI: Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, Peter Handscomb, Akeal Hosein, Nic Maddinson (c), Shaun Marsh, Kane Richardson, Tom Rogers, Will Sutherland, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jon Wells.
