Renato Moicano Reveals UFC 311 Fight Purse

Fresh off the back of his UFC 311 main event bout against Islam Makhachev, Renato Moicano has revealed exactly how much he made for the fight.

The Brazilian MMA star stepped in on just 24 hours notice to face Makhachev for the UFC Lightweight Title. This came after Arman Tsarukyan was forced to pull out of his proposed clash with Makhachev at the very last minute.

Moicano was supposed to be fighting Beneil Dariush on the main card already, but got upgraded to the main event in a clash with the pound-for-pound UFC king as well as being given a a shot at UFC gold.

Despite losing the fight in Round 1 to Islam Makhachev, Moicano’s move certainly paid off financially for him. As with the any UFC fighter on the main card, the Brazilian was already being paid a handsome purse for his UFC 311 clash with Dariush.

After being upgraded to the main event on just 24 hours notice, Moicano deservedly received a major boost to his bank balance. At the end of the day, Moicano somewhat saved the show for UFC President Dana White at the last minute.

It’s fair to say that Renato Moicano was well compensated for stepping in to fight Islam Makhachev. Of course he was given the opportunity to fight for the UFC Lightweight Title, but he was a huge outsider with the best UFC betting sites pre-fight.

The move to the main event most definitely paid off for the 35-year-old, as he revealed his purse on the Show Me the Money Podcast with Gilbert Burns and Matty Betss.

On the latest episode of his ‘Show Me the Money Podcast‘, Renato Moicano revealed just how much he was paid as the late replacement opponent for Islam Makhachev in the UFC 311 main event.

When asked how much he was paid for the fight, Moicano replied, “I got a nice cheque.” When asked by co-host and fellow Brazilian UFC fighter Gilbert Burns whether it was $950,000, Moicano simply replied: “Over.”

It has been confirmed by the man himself that Renato Moicano’s official UFC 311 fight purse was in fact upward of $950k. It could even have surpassed the $1 million mark. One thing is for sure, it is by far the biggest purse of Moicano’s career to date.

The latest UFC Lightweight Title challenger also went on to explain that UFC 311 sold more pay-per-view tickets after it was announced that he would replace Arman Tsarukyan in the main event:

“Somebody told me that after Arman pulled out, [UFC] sold even more pay-per-views because everyone was excited. Of course, it was something different, right? You don’t see that many times,” said Moicano.
