The house that needs renovating so remote even Google can't get to it

If you're looking for a new, amazing abode in a perfectly peaceful place then Google street view can be a useful tool to check out an area without having to leave your sofa.

But there are some cosy corners and hidden places in Wales that not even Google street view can find.

You might be travelling virtually along a tiny, winding country lane and Google street view suddenly stops, the Google van's adventure is over, so the rest of the journey might remain a mystery.

There's a wooded valley on the Powys /Ceredigion border that is not a virtual street view destination - if you want to see it properly, you'll have to get off the sofa and jump in the car or set off on a long walk or try to find it on Google Earth.

Travelling through the stunning countryside in reality the isolation is your travelling companion until you get to this property, tucked away amongst the trees at the end of the deserted lane.

Drink in the view, bathe in the perfect peace, relax in the splendid isolation. No dogs barking unless it's your own, no loud music unless it's you that's turned up the volume, no network of rooftops unless you add an extension onto this remote rural cottage.

Park the car or complete your long walk at the house and the views completely surround you, ready to fully mesmerise you.

Rugged, rolling mountain tops, blankets of trees that hug the hillsides, a patchwork of fields and a sky that constantly paints a new picture of changing weather, cloud formations and bursts of sunshine.

And at this amazing property near Machynlleth you get a front row seat to the wonders of nature from the windows, as well as from the well positioned garden patio.

The house comes with about three quarters of an acre but it feels like you own the whole valley, with breathtaking, uninterrupted views stretching to the horizon in every direction.

There's an intriguing former outbuilding in the garden too which has so much potential to be converted into a holiday let or the best granny annexe in the county, should planning be achieved.

Who wouldn't anyone want to come and stay, be immersed in nature, and allow it to soothe their troubles away?

Every period cottage deserves to delight you with an inglenook fireplace (Fine & Country Newton)

There's plenty of work to do first though, before regular mountain walks and trips to the beach at nearby Aberdyfi tempt you away from the renovation project.

The main house is a delight to explore, it is bursting with character from a number of eras and totally liveable as it is, but a new owner may want to put their own interior design stamp on this well-loved home to truly make it their own.

One thing they will surely be pleased about is the fact that potentially no walls, at least downstairs, need to come out to make a 'hub of the home' space, there's already an open-plan kitchen diner layout in place.

As well as sharing this kitchen diner space with family and friends at sociable gatherings, you'll be sharing the space with chunky and charming, exposed ceiling and wall beams that are welcome additions to the group.

Maybe the most welcome guest, that has been the centre of this space for decades if not centuries, is the wonderful inglenook fireplace.

It houses a substantial log burner, so none of the diners are likely to get cold whilst enjoying the fruits of your labour in the kitchen.

Cosy snug could be your ideal home office, if WiFi can find the house (Fine & Country Newton)

The centre of the house is a functioning slice of the floorplan, with a good sized reception hall and cloakroom at the front and a utility and boot room with a separate entrance to the back.

On the far side of the property is a dual aspect lounge that arguably has the best position to admire those absorbing views, via a set of patio doors that open out onto that elevated patio.

And if you ever get tired of that view, there's a picture window opposite the fire to give you a change of scenery.

Or you could retire to the snug, which would make an ideal home office, as long as WiFi can find the house too.

The snug has characterful beams and its own snapshot of stunning scenery outside the window to make everyone on your zoom calls really envious, as long as you position your laptop in the right direction.

Each space has character, light, and an inviting ambience that makes you want to linger, with a living picture of nature's perfection at each window.

Any one of these windows tempts you to pull up a chair away from the fireplace that you can find in each of the reception rooms.

Help with your hunt for a home here:

Watch the daily weather dance down the valley and see the seasons change with you and your home placed right in the centre of the action.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms and a bathroom off the landing, and each can claim a valley view to impress you, as well as space.

But up here there's also the potential to rearrange the layout to create a principal bedroom suite at one end - it might now be time to find the sledgehammer.

If planning allows, if the budget can expand to it and if you want to sacrifice one of the bedrooms, there's a spectacular bedroom suite waiting to be visualised and born on this first floor.

Surely the most longed for addition, as well as an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, would be a balcony or terrace off the principal bedroom via a set of French doors to connect with the gorgeous scenery?

Who wouldn't want to wake up and spill out onto a first floor balcony for their lazy Sunday morning brunch?

When dusk descends, drink in the inspiring views of a starry sky unspoilt by light pollution just before jumping into bed.

You'll wake up relaxed and refreshed thanks to the awesome landscape that cocoons this property that could be your perfect rural retreat.

The remote cottage is on the market for offers over £500,000 with Fine & Country, call their Newton branch on 01686 623123 to find out more.
