'Remember the name' - Man United fans make James Garner demand after starring in Liverpool loss

Manchester United fans were left in awe of their 22-year-old prospect James Garner after his display in Nottingham Forest's FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.

The United loanee continued his scintillating form against the Premier League title contenders and was a constant threat throughout. His moment of magic came in the dying embers as he cut through Virgil van Dijk and his defensive teammates, though Ryan Yates couldn't apply the finish.

It isn't the first time this season that fans have been waxing lyrical over the midfielder. The Birkenhead-born maestro sparkled throughout Forest's FA Cup run, beating Arsenal and Leicester City along the way.

In a season where the midfield has been subject to immense scrutiny, United fans couldn't contain their excitement at Garner's display. Here's how they reacted on Twitter.

The Manchester Evening News understands Garner is hopeful of staying at United next season as he approaches the final months of his loan spell with the Championship play-off hopefuls. In 31 league appearances this season he has three goals and four assists.

United legend Roy Keane spoke highly of him prior to the Liverpool clash, saying: "He's technically very good. He likes to dictate the play, sits a little bit deeper than Yates. Tough game for him today, this is a great experience for young players coming up against top players like Liverpool, great way to learn."
