'Remember that' - Ex-Liverpool defender makes Thiago Alcantara point for Champions League final

Liverpool have been told what they must “remember” ahead of the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

The Reds take on the Spanish giants in the final of the European Cup in Paris on Saturday night. Liverpool will be going for their seventh title while Real Madrid are searching for a record 14th triumph in the competition.

Jurgen Klopp’s side go into the game with some fitness concerns to a couple of their key players. Fabinho has missed Liverpool’s last three matches with a hamstring injury, while Thiago Alcantara was withdrawn at half time of the Reds’ last match against Wolves.

However, Fabinho has since returned to training and could feature against Madrid. For Thiago, Klopp admitted that the Spaniard has a “chance” of featuring in the final this weekend.

Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique believes the absence of Thiago would be a “big blow” for the Reds. But the ex-defender has offered words of encouragement even if Thiago is not fit to play against Real Madrid.

“I believe that what Thiago brings to the team, no one else brings to the team,” Enrique told bettingexpert.

“That’s the reality. No one else is an incredible number 8.

“It’s a big blow, it’s a massive blow for one of their key players.”

“Real Madrid are going to try to play counter-attacking football because it was the way they have been playing the whole season. Thiago is the kind of player that can break that.”

“But definitely it would be a massive blow. It’s like if you take [Luka] Modric from Real Madrid."

"You know, it’s kind of a miss, but Liverpool won the Champions League without Thiago, so we have to remember that."
