Do you recall the TerRio impersonator who gained notoriety for giving Popeyes the side-eye? We're all officially elderly because that child from the well-known meme is now a college football player. Dieunerst Collin, the side-eyed "Popeyes meme kid" who swept the internet nearly ten years ago, is back in the spotlight as a rising collegiate football star with his sights set on a NIL deal.
According to TMZ Sports, Dieunerst Collin, a freshman offensive lineman at Lake Erie College, is the youngster in the yellow shirt who at one point shot to online fame on the now-defunct social media network Vine.
In fact, the 6'1", 330-pounder went on to have a successful athletic career after becoming a meme, and East Orange Campus high school in New Jersey won a state title in 2021.
Collin's journey from his popular 2013 Vine video led him to Lake Erie College, where the offensive lineman, now 19 years old, just finished his redshirt freshman year. On Sunday, Collin gained new followers on Twitter as a result of a tweet that hinted at the possibility of a dream cooperation with the fast food business.
The tweet said, "The Louisiana kitchen needs to fire senior management if this guy doesn't have a NIL contract by tomorrow." Collin soon became aware of the resounding support and informally launched his campaign for a NIL agreement with a retort directed at Popeyes.
Collin, however, isn't afraid to talk about his background; in fact, he wants the fast food restaurant company to set him up with a Name, Image, and Likeness agreement! He published a photo on Instagram with the statement, "It would be an awesome full-circle moment if Collin secured a NIL relationship with Popeyes," along with his well-known meme and a picture of him clutching the state championship his high school team won during his senior year.
Given Collin's capacity for generating engagement, it should be obvious that Popeyes shouldn't have to think about this choice for very long.
