Remarkable footage shows the weird and wonderful sea creatures living under Bali sea

Newly released footage shows an amazing display of bizarre creatures that lurk beneath the waters of Bali in Indonesia.

Maulyadi Salasanto - known online as Pelacak Alam - has racked up an impressive 101,000 followers on Instagram for his fascinating videos and images of weird and wonderful sea creatures.

Maulyadi lives in the tropical paradise and creates social media content for a local coffee shop.

He told Newsflash in an interview: "I recorded the videos in Bali around March to October."

Maulyadi Salasanto runs an Instagram page where he showcases Bali's weird and wonderful creatures like the decorator crab (Newsflash)

In the clips, the content creator names some of the animals that appear as "cowrie [snail], cushion star, decorator crab, fireworm, cockatoo waspfish, moon snail, shame-faced crab, seahorse, blunt arm sea star, white-spotted hermit crab, brittle star, banded sea urchin, sea hare, stonefish, sand dollar, anemone hermit crab, [and] long-spined sea urchin".

The four-legged brittle star certainly stands out in the video footage due to its spider-like features and the way it slowly crawls off of Maulyadi's hand in the first clip.

The second clip of the long-spined sea urchin also draws attention amongst the other wonderful finds due to its prickly spikes all over its body.

The sea urchin may be beautiful but they are also mildly venomous.

During his interview with Newsflash, Maulyadi offered some wise advice, stating: "Don't touch any sea animal if you don't know what it is."

On when he developed his passion for marine exploration, Maulyadi replied: "Since I was a kid."

He continued: "I learned the hard way because of curiosity. Touching things I didn't know, then getting injured.

"But now, since the internet, information is more accessible, and I can also share some of my experiences about sea creatures, not only their beauty, but also the danger, how to avoid them, and how to touch them in the safest way for the animal, according to my experiences."

Over the years, many weird and wonderful sea creatures have been spotted on the Indonesian island, with some more out of the ordinary than others.

In 2016, a mysterious 'alien' creature with a transparent head and 13 legs was spotted at the bottom of the ocean by a baffled deep-sea diver.

The strange-looking animal appeared to sport a large jelly-like ball where its head should be and bared a set of spiky teeth.

The incredible footage of the peculiar sea creature was filmed by a diver in Bali, who did not appear to have any idea what the alien-like fish could be.

It turns out, the 'alien' was in fact a sea slug - also known as Melibe viridis.

Sea slugs can grow to over 12cm in length and they use their transparent heads as an 'oral veil' - or fishing net - to catch their prey, according to Sea Slug Forum.
