'Relieved' - Newcastle United supporters react as Eddie Howe's side hold on for Brighton draw

Newcastle United maintained their unbeaten start to the season after a hard-fought draw at Brighton. It was a difficult afternoon in the sun on the south coast as Graham Potter's side controlled the contest, but the Magpies managed to keep a second consecutive clean sheet and avoid defeat.

Eddie Howe was forced into making one change from the starting eleven which earned an opening-day win over Nottingham Forest. Matt Targett was ruled out with a dead leg, which saw Dan Burn shift to full-back and Sven Botman make his full black-and-white debut.

Chances were at a premium for the visitors, who saw a first-half strike from Callum Wilson chalked off as the number nine was penalised for a high boot. Newcastle were thankful for a couple of fine saves from Nick Pope and two goalline clearances as well from Fabian Schar and Kieran Trippier as they held on for a point.
