Relief for Irish holidaymakers as many report big change at Dublin Airport and staff 'playing a blinder'

There has been a stark change in the attitudes of passengers heading through Dublin Airport this morning.

While queues are still being met by early morning flyers, it seems the wait time has been shortened a great deal as customers note more staff and speedy security operations.

Over the past number of weeks, there has been widespread criticism online from passengers experiencing queue times of up to four hours.

The daa confirmed that the delays were down to a lack of staff and a lengthy vetting process for new employees before they can be deployed.

People even began posting images of blocked toilets, tables packed with rubbish, and littered floors as staff struggled to keep on top of crowds.

Friday morning was met with another sigh of relief from passengers online, with some taking the time to thank the staff for their hard work on the back of a disastrous few weeks.

One passenger took to Twitter and said: “No stress at all at #dublinairport this morning. Security running a smooth operation, thank you! Fast track doesn't open until 4 am but regular queue moved quickly. ~40mins.”

Another wrote: “In case you’re wondering, arrived 4:10 am at T1 and took about an hour to get through Fast Track security (no bag drop). It was busy but moving. Lots of staff! #DublinAirport.”

A third said: “Well done #DublinAirport I used fast track, there was a queue, all in all I was through security within 15 minutes.

“I can see that you're all working hard & organising things the best you can. Nice work guys.”

It seems the improvements are being seen right across the airport, as one terminal 2 customer wrote: “I've never gone from the front doors to duty-free so quickly at #DublinAirport T2 as I have just now. 10 mins from bus to duty-free and that included checking in a bag! Staff being extra helpful. “

Another said: “Fairplay @DublinAirport only 30-minute line ups this morning! Moving all the time. Some of the Dublin staff are playing a blinder throwing out some one-liners!”
