Relief as ScotRail services return to normal with full timetable today

ScotRail is reminding customers that all services have returned to normal this week.

The RMT trade union made the announcement that it had suspended planned strike action, which would see huge disruption to commuters across Lanarkshire, by its members of Network Rail to allow for pay negotiations to take place.

Union members had initially planned to take strike action over three days this week, including tomorrow Wednesday, November 9.

Since the announcement, ScotRail has been working around the clock to restore the full timetable – a process which has involved rewriting train timetables and rosters for thousands of staff, and getting trains to where they need to be ready for normal service.

The train operator, however, is encouraging customers planning to travel in the coming days to continue to check their entire journey before they head to the station.

David Simpson, ScotRail service delivery director, told Lanarkshire Live : “We’re pleased to be able to reintroduce our normal timetable from today, Tuesday, November 8.

“We know how much people right across the country rely on rail travel, so it will be welcome news for customers that ScotRail services on Wednesday (November 9) will no longer be impacted by strike action.

“I would, however, encourage customers to continue check their journey before they travel on the ScotRail website or mobile app.”
