'Never again' - Allan sends Everton relegation warning with Frank Lampard admission
With the potential to be in the drop zone by the time today’s Merseyside Derby kicks off, Allan is well aware of the seriousness of the threat to Everton’s Premier League status but he is determined to ensure this season of strife serves as a harsh warning to the club that they never find themselves in such a position again. In the season before the Brazilian arrived at Goodison Park he was playing Champions League football for Napoli and the coach he served there and who brought him to these shores, Carlo Ancelotti, returned to such rarefied circles this term at Real Madrid.
Given his own pedigree in the game as one of the many international players within the Blues squad, Allan is asked whether there is any dent to his pride at being embroiled in a relegation battle with what is – on paper at least – such a gifted squad. He said: “It does hurt, no doubt. It hurts when I see where we are in the table, especially when the club has such great fans and a plan for the future that is so good.

“But maybe this can be a valuable lesson that we can take forward to build a better future by rectifying the errors we have made this season. We have to ensure we get on the right path so that we are never again in this position.”
Allan added: “We know this is a difficult moment. I can only speak for myself, and the situation is always on my mind. I look at the other results, look at the table, who we have got to play and I am apprehensive. But this is a time to fight even harder, to stick together and work well. This comes through dedication and team spirit.
“It’s my hope that we don’t have to be in that position on the last day. The earlier we get the points to be mathematically safe the better so we don’t have to be looking at the last fixtures.
"But what we have to do is our maximum, just do our best, not just in games but in training as well, in order to get the points that we need and not look so much at the fixtures, but more to the qualities that we have, and the players that we have, to get the points we need before the end of the season.”

'Looking to leave' - Everton striker sent transfer message after impressive campaign
A former Everton favourite has told one of the club's current strikers it is time to think about finding a new team to continue his career with.
Nathan Broadhead has been on loan at League One side Sunderland this season and has scored 11 goals in 22 appearances for the Black Cats, helping to keep their promotion push on track. But Goodison great Campbell believes that the Welshman should now look to cut ties with the Toffees and forge a career for himself in the lower leagues.
Speaking to website Goodison News, Campbell said: “I just don’t see it. I think he’s a good player, but there’s levels to this. Sunderland are a League One [side]. He’s doing really well there, but he hasn’t played Championship before, he’s played League One. And he’s in one of the stronger teams in the league as well, that’s the other thing.
“So let’s see how it goes. I just think the likes of Ellis Simms is in front of him, who’s doing a good job at Hearts. I think at 24, really you’re going to probably have to be looking to leave Everton and going and cutting your teeth somewhere else.”
