A father of two who died in hospital after being attacked with a weapon inside his Darwin home was allegedly murdered by a relative.
The 54-year-old was found seriously injured at a unit in the city centre on April 8, Northern Territory police say.
He died from his injuries in Royal Darwin Hospital on Wednesday.
A 51-year-old man was charged with his murder on Friday.
"This is quite a horrendous domestic violence incident involving relatives," Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said on Sunday.
"A weapon was involved. Blunt-force trauma has resulted in severe head injuries and injuries to the torso and defensive wounds."
A man and woman allegedly in the apartment when the attack happened reported the incident to a worker at a nearby service station, who then alerted police.
"It was a horrendous scene," Sgt Budge said.
The man has been charged and is scheduled to appear in the NT Local Court in Darwin on Tuesday.
