Reiss Nelson reveals Mikel Arteta instruction which masterminded Arsenal comeback vs Bournemouth

Reiss Nelson has revealed what Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said to him before introducing him during yesterday's 3-2 win over Bournemouth.

The Hale End academy graduate, who was brought on as a second-half substitute, assisted Ben White's equaliser in the 70th minute before netting the winner deep into injury time, a strike that send the Emirates Stadium into a state of ecstasy. Speaking about what Arteta told him before he came on, Nelson said: "He just said to keep wide, you know.

"Use my strengths, go one vs one against the fullback and that's what I tried to do. I'm happy with the assist and the goal so happy days for us."

"It dropped onto my right," Nelson added. "I wanted to hit it with my laces on my right but I saw the defender coming out, so I decided to shift it onto my left and then just had to hit through it, aim for the top bins - something like that! I’m just happy it went in - I'm delighted with it.

"When the ball came out to me I was thinking 'please give me one chance'. I'm buzzing, really happy. I controlled it with my right foot and it came onto my left. We need moments like this if we want to go all the way.

"We're not looking at any other team at the minute. We are focusing on ourselves. We will keep going day-by-day, game-by-game. As an Arsenal fan, I'm just delighted with the result."
