Reigning DPOY Myles Garrett requests trade from Browns

As reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh Steelers rival defender Myles Garrett has officially requested a trade after eight seasons with the team, expressing a desire to compete for a Super Bowl.

As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl — and that goal fuels me today more than ever. My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.

While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.

With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.

Much like Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt in Pittsburgh (but you’ll never see them demand a trade), it’s evident a Super Bowl won’t happen for Garrett in Cleveland.

Despite the Feb. 3 request, Browns general manager Andrew Berry has previously said he won’t trade Garrett, stating that the team wants him to retire in Cleveland and is not interested in trading him, even for substantial compensation.

Garrett, 29, is under contract through the 2026 season, with significant salary-cap implications for the Browns in the coming years. His departure would mark a significant shift for the franchise, which has struggled to achieve consistent success during his tenure.
